The Phoenix is a symbol which is a significant element in the story "Fahrenheit 451" It represents the rebirth of man as it sreads it's wings and rises from the ashes.

After the city is destroyed by the bombs, many of it's populace is killed, leaving Montang and his allies (the countryside folk who poses strong literature skills and are revealed to be able to remember famous books by heart);. Montang describes the burning city as a Phoenix rising from the ashes. The Phoenix ultimately represents mankind's rebirth into a new age , where technology no longer exists as a result of the devastating war, but now literature and intellectualism are now the dominant priorities and interests of humans.
